Abstract
ABSTRAK Aura Novi Dewi Utami PENURUNAN KADAR MANGAN (Mn) DENGAN METODE AERASI FILTRASI PADA AIR SUMUR GALI xv Halaman Permulaan + 65 Halaman Isi + 3 Tabel + 3 Gambar + 5 Lampiran Air sumur gali. di Desa Kiringan, Kecamatan Takeran, Kabupaten Magetan, memiliki kandungan Mangan.(Mn) yang melebihi ambang batas menurut Permenkes Nomor 2. Tahun 2023, yaitu 0,1 ppm. Kandungan Mangan (Mn) yang tinggi dapat menimbulkan gangguan pada kesehatan dan pencemaran lingkungan, diperlukan proses pengolahan air yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penurunan kadar Mn pada air sumur gali melalui proses Aerasi dan Filtrasi sederhana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain penlitian eksperimen semu (quasi-experimental design) yang menggunakan pendekatan one group pretest-posttest. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan 6 kali replikasi untuk setiap perlakuan. Proses perlakuan terdiri dari aerasi selama 60 menit menggunakan bubble aerator dan filtrasi dengan media berlapis (zeolit, karbon aktif, pasir mangan, dan ijuk) dengan ketebalan 20 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar Mangan sebelum perlakuan sebesar 0,7 ppm. Setelah proses aerasi, kadar Mangan turun menjadi 0,5 ppm (penurunan 28,57%), setelah proses filtrasi menjadi 0,3 ppm (penurunan 57,14%), dan setelah kombinasi aerasi-filtrasi menjadi 0,1 ppm (penurunan 85,71%). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi aerasi dan filtrasi lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan proses tunggal. Disarankan penelitian selanjutnya untuk menambah rangkaian proses pengendapan, variasi waktu aerasi, volume, debit aerator dan ketebalan media filtrasi yang lebih optimal, serta pengujian terhadap parameter lain, agar metode ini dapat diterapkan lebih luas dan komprehensif guna meningkatkan efektivitas penurunan kadar Mangan (Mn) dalam air sumur gali. Elevated Mn levels can cause health issues and environmental contamination,.thus requiring effective water treatment processes. This study aimed to determine the reduction of Mn levels in dug well water through simple aeration and filtration processes. This research used a qualitative method with a quasi-experimental design and a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Samples were collected using purposive sampling with 6 replications for each treatment. The treatments consisted of aeration for 60 minutes using a bubble aerator and filtration using layered media (Zeolite, Activated Carbon, Manganese Greensand, and Palm Fiber) with a .thickness of 20 centimeter. The result showed the initials of Manganese concentration.was 0.7 ppm. After aeration, it decreased to 0.5 ppm (28.57% reduction), after filtration to 0.3 ppm (57.14% reduction), and after the combination of aeration and filtration to 0.1 ppm (85.71% reduction). These findings indicate. that the. Combination. of aeration and filtration more effective than either process. alone. Further research is recommended to explore variations in the sedimentation process, aeration duration, aerator volume and flow rate, as well as the optimal thickness of the filtration media. Moreover, testing of additional water quality parameters is necessary to support a broader and more comprehensive application of this method in improving the effectiveness of Manganese (Mn) removal from dug well water.
