Abstract

Bima Anom Mahendra PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH PLASTIK TIPE PET (POLYETHYLENE “ TEREPHTHALATE) MENJADI PAVING BLOCK” xv Halaman Permulaan + 58 Halaman Isi + 6 Tabel + 30 Gambar + 7 Lampiran Permasalahan limbah plastik, khususnya jenis Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), semakin meningkat seiring pertumbuhan penduduk dan konsumsi produk berbahan plastik. Limbah plastik PET sulit terurai secara alami dan menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah plastik PET sebagai bahan campuran pembuatan paving block. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik menggunakan design eksperimen dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 3 variasi untuk pembuatan campuran paving block, dan metode yang digunakan untuk pembuatan paving block ini menggunakan cara manual dimana pembuatan paving block dari limbah plastik PET dilakukan dengan mencacah atau melebur plastik hingga menjadi agregat halus atau lelehan, yang kemudian dicampurkan bersama pasir atau bahan tambahan lain sesuai variasi Proses pembuatan biasanya meliputi pemilihan bahan, pencampuran bahan, pengolahan, pencetakan, dan pendinginan. Dari hasil yang didapat dari paving block dengan campuran PET 40%:pasir 4 5%, PET 40%:pasir 50%, dan PET 40%:pasir 55% menunjukkan nilai kuat tekan tertinggi sebesar 7,8 Mpa pada campuran PET 40% pasir 45% dengan berat rata- rata 0,626 Kg dimana belum tergolong dalam mutu paling rendah dengan kuat tekan minimal sebesar 8,5 Mpa untuk halaman taman atau rumah yang tidak dilalui kendaraan berat. Penambahan plastik PET bisa menjadikan paving block dengan daya tekan yang tinggi. PET plastik waste is difficult to decompose naturally and has negative impacts on the environment. This research aims to utilize PET plastik waste as a material for making paving blocks. This type of research is analytical using an experimental design with a sample size of 3 variations for making paving block mixtures, and the method used to make these paving blocks uses a manual method where the making of paving blocks from PET plastik waste is done by chopping or melting plastik until it becomes a fine aggregate or melt, which is then mixed with sand or other additional materials according to the variation. The manufacturing process usually includes selecting materials, mixing materials, processing, molding, and cooling. The results obtained from paving blocks with a mixture of PET 40%: sand 4 5%, PET 40%: sand 50%, and PET 40%: sand 55% showed the highest compressive strength value of 7.8 Mpa in a mixture of PET 40% sand 45% with an average weight of 0.626 Kg which is not yet classified as the lowest quality with a minimum compressive strength of 8.5 Mpa for garden or house yards that are not passed by heavy vehicles.
