Abstract
Kontrasepsi suntik depo medroxy progesterone acetat (DMPA) merupakan salah satu metode kontrasepsi hormonal yang banyak digunakan karna praktis dan memiliki efektivitas yang tinggi. Meskipun demikian kontrasepsi DMPA sendiri memiliki efek samping salah satunya berupa kenaikan berat badan yang dapat disebabkan pengaruh hormon yang terkandung dalam kontrasepsi DMPA, berupa nafsu makan dan perubahan metabolisme serta dipengaruhi oleh faktor keturunan dan pola hidup. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan kepada akseptor kontrasepsi DMPA yang mengalami masalah berupa kenaikan berat badan di Puskesmas Klampis. Penulis menerapkan pendekatan studi kasus pada akseptor kontrasepsi suntik DMPA yang mengalami kenaikan berat badan 5 kg selama 12 bulan penggunaan di Desa Tengghun Daya, Kecamatan Klampis, Kabupaten Bangkalan. Penulis mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara, pemeriksaan fisik, dan dokumentasi K4 selama dua kali kunjungan ke rumah akseptor. Dengan asuhan yang telah diberikan selama waktu 3 minggu, intervensi yang telah diberikan berupa edukasi mengenai pola makan sehat serta melakukan aktivitas fisik berupa senam aerobix selama 2 kali dalam satu minggu serta pemantauan secara berkala, berat badan ibu berangsur menurun dari 81 kg menjadi 80 kg. penurunan ini menjadi respon positif terhadap intervensi yang dilakukan. Efek samping berupa kenaikan berat badan pada pengguna DMPA terbukti signifikan dan dipengaruhi oleh faktor hormonal serta pola hidup. Pemberian asuhan kebidanan yang tepat, termasuk edukasi terkait gizi dan anjuran aktivitas fisik, terbukti mampu membantu ibu menurunkan berat badan secara bertahap. Untuk menjaga keberhasilan ini, diperlukan pemantauan secara terus-menerus serta kolaborasi lintas profesi. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya memberikan informasi yang komprehensif kepada akseptor DMPA mengenai potensi risiko dan upaya pencegahan efek samping, serta perlunya penerapan pendekatan holistik dalam pelayanan keluarga berencana. ABSTRACT Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) injectable contraception is one of the most widely used hormonal contraceptive methods because it is practical and highly effective. However, DMPA contraception has side effects, one of which is weight gain, which may be caused by hormonal influences affecting appetite and metabolism, as well as being influenced by genetic factors and lifestyle. This case report targets a DMPA contraceptive acceptor who experienced weight gain at the Klampis Community Health Center. The author applied a case study approach to a DMPA injectable contraceptive acceptor who experienced a weight gain of 5 kg over 12 months of use in Tengghun Daya Village, Klampis District, Bangkalan Regency. Data were collected through interviews, physical examinations, and K4 documentation during two home visits to the acceptor. With three weeks of care, interventions provided included education on healthy eating patterns, aerobic exercise twice a week, and regular monitoring. The mother’s weight gradually decreased from 81 kg to 80 kg, indicating a positive response to the intervention. The side effect of weight gain in DMPA users proved significant and was influenced by hormonal and lifestyle factors. Appropriate midwifery care, including nutrition education and recommendations for physical activity, was shown to help mothers reduce weight gradually. To maintain this success, continuous monitoring and cross-professional collaboration are necessary. These findings emphasize the importance of providing comprehensive information to DMPA acceptors regarding potential risks and preventive measures for side effects, as well as the need for a holistic approach in family planning services.
