Abstract

EFEKTIVITAS METODE FILTRASI DALAM MENURUNKAN TINGKAT KEKERUHAN PADA AIR SUMUR BOR RUSUN JATAYU YOGYAKARTA xii + 12 Halaman + 6 Tabel + 6 Lampiran Air bersih didefinisikan sebagai air yang telah memenuhi standar kesehatan dan aman untuk digunakan dalam berbagai aktivitas sehari-hari. Air sumur bor di Rusun Jatayu Yogyakarta memiliki tingkat kekeruhan mencapai 12 NTU, jauh di atas batas aman. Karena tingginya tingkat kekeruhan, dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengolahan air tanah di daerah tersebut dengan menggunakan metode filtrasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain pra-experiment. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penurunan kadar kekeruhan menggunakan metode filtrasi. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan perancangan unit filtrasi menggunakan 2 pipa berukuran 4 dim sepanjang 50 cm yang didalamnya terdapat media pada filter 1 meliputi kerikil 10 cm, ijuk 15 cm dan pasir kuarsa 20 cm sedangkan filter 2 meliputi dari kerikil 10 cm, ijuk 15 cm dan pasir zeolit 20 cm. Untuk setiap perlakuan dilakukan replikasi sebanyak 16 kali, sehingga total sampel yang dibutuhkan adalah 64 sampel untuk dua perlakuan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kadar kekeruhan sebelum proses filtrasi pada filter 1 memiliki rata-rata sebesar 6,658 NTU, sementara setelah filtrasi turun menjadi 5,773 NTU dengan tingkat efektivitas penurunan sebesar 13,29%. Untuk filter 2, kadar kekeruhan sebelum filtrasi memiliki rata-rata sebesar 20,943 NTU, dan setelah filtrasi menurun menjadi 11,610 NTU dengan efektivitas penurunan mencapai 44,56%. Dengan demikian, unit filtrasi pada filter 2 terbukti paling efektif dalam mengurangi kekeruhan, dengan efektivitas penurunan sebesar 44,56%. The borewell water at Rusun Jatayu Yogyakarta has a turbidity level reaching 12 NTU, which significantly exceeds the safe limit. Due to the high turbidity level, a study was conducted on groundwater treatment in the area using filtration methods. This study employed an experimental design with a pre-experimental approach. The objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of turbidity reduction through filtration. The experiment was conducted by designing a filtration unit using two pipes, each measuring 4 inches in diameter and 50cm in length. Inside the pipes, filter media were arranged as follows: Filter 1 consisted of 10cm of gravel, 15cm of coconut coir (ijuk), and 20cm of quartz sand. Filter 2 consisted of 10cm of gravel, 15cm of coconut coir (ijuk), and 20cm of zeolite sand. Each treatment was replicated 16 times, resulting in a total of 64 samples for the two treatments. Results showed that the average turbidity before filtration in Filter 1 was 6.658 NTU, which decreased to 5.773 NTU after filtration, achieving a reduction effectiveness of 13.29%. For Filter 2, turbidity averaged 20.943 NTU before filtration and decreased to 11.610 NTU after filtration, with a reduction effectiveness of 44.56%. Therefore, the filtration unit in Filter 2 proved to be the most effective in reducing turbidity, with a reduction efficiency of 44.56%. Keywords: Turbidity, Filtration, Filter Media
